The brief for this project was to create a 10-15 minute game centered around an impactful moment of consequence.
With this in mind, I looked into Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey paradigm and thought what it would be like to portray the entire journey before the inciting incident, turning the first event into the story's dramatic conclusion.
Our unlikely hero is a shopkeeper in a fantasy world who, in true NPC fashion, has never been outside her shop. As a small adventuring party describe their latest endeavours, her mind wanders, placing herself and her dog in the shoes of the adventurers. After experiencing the highs and lows, the player is given a final choice: does this character leave to go on her own adventure?
